Things to Do in an RV Maintenance Session
When you own an RV, you intend to keep it in the best condition possible. You have certain maintenance duties you can carry out yourself. You also have others which you need a professional to come to take a look at. No matter the case, you need to keep the RV well maintained if you expect to make good use of it.
You need to do regular RV roof inspection for leaks. You will experience leaks when there are open seams in the roof’s edges, vents, skylights, or air conditioning unit. If such water is left to leak in, it shall damage the insulation, then the inner ceiling layers. Attempting to fit it at that point shall be an experienced service to undertake.
The tires also need some attention. The RV’s wheel lug units and tire pressure should be kept proper if they are to help keep the vehicle safe to use. When the RV is in storage, or in use for a long time, these lugs tend to loosen. It is therefore important to check up on those before setting out on your journey. You need them to also check on the tire pressure.
They the need to inspect the battery. You do not want to have to deal with a dead battery while out there. There is every reason to keep your fully charged at all times. You need to also check on the age of the battery. Normally, you will have to think of buying another when yours reaches three years of age. There is a need to plan for a need one then.
The wastewater system also need attention. You need to have this system well maintained. If it is not, the chances of it clogging are high.
You need to also attend to the RV’s brakes. An RV is a large and bulky vehicle which needs powerful brakes to stop it at all times. Should they show signs of wear and tear; you need to replace them. Safety is a critical issue here.
You need to also do something about the oil. RVs do not need constant oil changes like small cars. But it is wise to see to it that there is an oil change at every seasonal transition. If you do not, you can cause the engine to die. It is also wise to have the air, fuel, coolant, and hydraulic filters changed regularly. These need attention every time there is an oil change.
There also needs to become attentive to the awning.
You also need the electrical wiring to be checked for proper working order. This is needed especially to the tow vehicle. This is due to the safety concerns. You need it if the brakes and lights are to work properly.
